What is NDA?

National Defense Academy (NDA) is one of the most popular entrance exams among the students after class 12th , the student who are looking to make their career in the Indian defence forces NDA is one of the best opportunity for them. NDA is an entrance exam conducted for the selection of officer posts in the Indian Army, Indian Air force and Indian Navy. The NDA exam is conducted twice a year by UPSC and consists of a written test followed by a SSB interview; candidates who qualify in the written test are called for the SSB interview which judges the effective intelligence, leadership qualities, communication skills, physical fitness and decision making skills of the candidates. The recruitment of candidates to the different wings of Indian defence forces (Army, Navy and Airforce) is conducted through NDA exam. The NDA exam is conducted twice in the year in the month of April (NDA 1) and in September (NDA 2). The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the conducting body of the National defence Academy and Naval Academy examinations. The candidates selected in NDA examination will undergo cadet training in Indian Army, Airforce and Navy. On the other hand candidates selected in Indian Naval Academy will undergo 4 year b.tech degree courses after the successful completition of the course the candidates will join technical or executive branches.so candidates who are interested and going to participate in the examination are informed that they have to fill the NDA 1 2016Online Application Form through Online Mode from the official websitewww.upsconline.nic.in and submit till January 29, 2016.

The candidates Joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 years B.Tech course and would be given an opportunity to join Executive and Technical Branches of the Navy subject to availability of vacancies

 NDA 2016 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality : The candidates must be a:
(i) a citizen of India , or (ii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iii) a subject of Nepal, or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 01 January, 1963 with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age (For NDA I 2016) :
Only unmarried candidates are allowed to write the examination, the candidates not born before 2nd July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2000 are eligible.

Educational Qualifications

For Indian Army wing of National Defence Academy : The candidates must have passed or appearing class 12th from a recognized board or university.
For Air force and Navy wings of National Defence Academy: The candidates must have passed or appearing class 12th with physics and Mathematics from a recognized board or university.

Physical Standards:
The candidate must be physically fit, and must fulfill the physical standards norms set up by National Defence Academy and National Naval Academy.

NDA Selection Process

NDA exam is one of the highly competitive examinations in the country. Every year thousands of students appear for the NDA exam to become a commissioned officer in the Indian defence forces. The candidate’s selection process comprises of two phases:

(1) Written Test
(2) SSB Interview

The written test is the first phase of the NDA exam, comprising of multiple choice questions from Mathematics, General knowledge and current affairs, English, quantitative aptitude and reasoning etc. The candidates who qualify the written examination are called for the SSB interview which is the 5 day process and candidates are eliminated every round of SSB, after successfully qualifying the SSB the final merit list is prepared and candidates are selected as per their preferences.

2. The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers (Test Booklets) OF MATHEMATICS AND PART “b” OF GENERAL ABILITY TESTS WILL BE SET BILINGUALLY IN HINDI AS WELL AS English.
